Though actually, it looks like accident damage. Someone hit front wheel breaking aluminum lower A arm. Any guesses as to make and model?

I was riding along when I ran over a board in the road, and a little while later the car started handling funny and making a wump wump wump sound. When I got out and looked, well, I guess there must have been a nail in that board, because the front tire was totally flat.
Now I never changed a tire before, but there was a floor jack and a set of tools in the trunk, so I figured “how hard can this be?” I jacked her
up and got to work. Took a while but I finally got the darn thing off.
Then I went poking around in the trunk looking for the spare, but to my disappointment, it wasn’t there! Well, the rotating part of it was there, but the mounting bracket was completely absent. So I was stuck. I had to call a tow truck.
I’m really disappointed and I want a refund from the dealership! Imagine selling somebody a car with a defective spare
!

I once saw a tow truck tow a Civic (older model) into a curb and fire hydrant during a right turn
Somehow, after that damage, a coil spring was rolling down the road. So they ripped apart a coil-over-shock assembly, somehow

No clue. That’s on Whitman Street in Hayward, California.
Whitman is a two-mile stretch of road that butt up against a railroad track and the commuter train system BART. Access at only two points along the stretch. So trash dumping, drag racing, abandoned wrecked cars, people sleeping in parked motor homes, you name it. I commute down that street and it’s never a dull ride. This morning, I rode down that way on my bicycle and saw this piece of shrapnel, which was interesting, but in no way out of place.

As we were in college, we retrieved the spring, made it wall art, and drank to its' honor

That’s a thing, cars with no spare. Or with stupid microspares.

Given the location -- see my reply to Racin’ Bob above -- it was probably the end of a joy ride.

Oh,
I know. I bought a used
‘09 Miata and it didn’t c
ome with a spare, just a
kit with some goop you spray into your tire, which ruins your tire pressure
sensor if you ever use it
.
I’d like to get
one of those little donut spares for it. I know
mini-spares are crap
to drive on
but I have picked up so many nails in my tires on construction sites over the years, I really want a spare
to get me to a
tire shop where they can pull the nail and put on a patch
.

Looks more like a lazy tow truck driver didn't quite tow the whole car.

Except that the rim is broken and the tire is cut. Looks to me like he smacked a curb.

That’s one gnarly tall curb. Probably smacked at speed and the tow truck driver didn’t take it with the rest of the car.
